Argentine central bank president approved

BUENOS AIRES -- Argentina’s Senate has approved the appointment of the new president of the central bank, Roque Maccarone, a spokesperson at the bank in Buenos Aires told FX Week. Maccarone, who was formerly head of Banco Nacion, was appointed after former chief Pedro Pou was sacked after being accused of turning a blind eye to money laundering.

Meanwhile, renowned currency strategist Alfonso Prat-Gay is waiting to be ratified by the Senate for the post of vice-president of the Argentine central
