Central Bankers Clash Over Single Currency At European Forex Congress In Strasbourg

Crowned by the appearance of future Bundesbank governor Hans Tietmayer, the second annual European Forex Congress in Strasbourg last week focused on the future shape of Europe--particularly, EMU and the proposals for a single currency. Speakers differed about how soon they thought monetary union would come--but few seemed doubtful that it eventually would.
