Year-To-Date Swift Tally Shows UBS, Swiss Bank At Top Of List


Using the number of transactions put through SWIFT as a proxy for foreign exchange trades, Union Bank of Switzerland appears to be the most active bank in the foreign exchange market so far this year, followed by Swiss Bank Corp.

SWIFT is a network that links over 2,600 financial institutions in 65 countries and handles the bulk of the world's foreign exchange settlements. Although the settlement system was initially created for banks, SWIFT has approved categories of non-bank institutions
