Nordic Banks Report Mixed Results For First Half-Year

The major Nordic banks report mixed interim results for foreign exchange-related earnings compared to a year ago. The mixed results reflect the volatility in these currencies during the period, says Hanna Duer, a senior economist with MMS International in London.

Duer says the Swedish krona was volatile during the first half-year and the Finnish markka's volatility also increased, but at a lower level. "The Finnish markka and the Swedish krona are floating rates and have not yet joined the ERM
