French Franc Trading In Paris Picks Up; An Effect Of Market-Making 'Charter'?

The attempt by French banks to revive liquidity in the Paris market is beginning to see some success, say traders--so far as anyone can tell considering the disturbed market conditions of the past few weeks. In late June, the nine largest Paris market makers signed a charter promising to make continuous spot prices in dollar/Paris and mark/Paris within defined spreads in hopes of recovering some of the business that has passed to London in the last few years (FX Week, July 6).
