BNP Taps Murphy To Trade Sterling; To Add More EMS Currencies Soon?

After conducting an extensive search for a sterling trader, the New York branch of Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP) has hired veteran dealer Tony Murphy. The decision was made after the bank interviewed "just about every top sterling trader on the street," according to a source familiar with the bank.

But the exhaustive search appears to have paid off. "I think that given [Murphy's] credentials he should do well here," says Robert Mograbi, a senior vice president and chief dealer at the bank
