The foreign exchange market may be losing its high-rollers, who take big positions in an effort to move rates in their favor.

"The market has grown too big for anyone to move rates very much. Most of the big speculators of the past are no longer active," says David Cocker, the principal currency adviser of Chemical Bank in London.
