UBS reports fixed-income profit in Q3

Sales and trading revenues from the FICC division totalled Sfr985 million in the third quarter, turning around a loss of Sfr59 million in Q2, and a loss of Sfr4.52 billion in Q3, 2008.

The Swiss bank said FICC figures showed the progress in risk reduction and the effect of key hires in its credit business. By contrast, it said results were partly offset by lower trading revenues in the macro area, which includes foreign exchange, money markets and interest rates.
