Dealers continue to be the most dominant players in longer-term and complex instruments such as currency swaps, despite a sharp rise in activity from non-dealing institutions in simple, short-term contracts, according to a study of over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives markets by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS).
