Nomura strengthens FX options team

Industry veteran David Pennell has joined Nomura as executive director and emerging markets options trader, reporting directly to Nigel Khakoo, managing director and global head of FX trading in London.

Pennell joined the Japanese bank at the end of January, following a brief break from the markets since leaving Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) in July. He worked at CIBC for four months, reporting to Pauric Hanna, who was executive director at the time.

Previously, he worked for JP Morgan between 2003 and the summer of 2013, as an executive director and FX options trader. He reported to global head of FX options and head of FX for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Kay Mirza, who is now at Goldman Sachs.

Between 1993 and 2003, Pennell worked at RBC Capital Markets as a G10 FX options trader, based in London and Singapore.

Nomura confirmed the hire.
