The depth of liquidity in foreign exchange markets has deteriorated due to structural changes and the extent of fragmentation is exacerbating the difficulty of matching interests due to the lack of standardisation among trading platforms.

Panellists at the 12th annual FX Week USA conference highlighted the lack of communication between platforms, which makes it difficult for orders to be matched if opposing interests are located on separate venues, as well as the lack of systems to guarantee
