IG chief executive to step down

Timothy Alexander Howkins, chief executive of IG Group, is leaving the company after 16 years. He will retire after the annual shareholders' meeting in October, with Peter Hetherington, currently IG's chief operating officer, set to become chief executive on an interim basis.

London-based Howkins served as chief executive and chief financial officer of IG Group Holdings Plc since 2006 and prior to that he has been the group's financial director for seven years.
