Saxo Bank has hired Ben Smoker, former head of business for Australia at Gain Capital, as chief executive for the capital markets division in Australia.

At the same time, the Danish bank has appointed Nik Kritikos as head of institutional business for Australia.

Sydney-based Smoker spent more than four years at Gain Capital, joining in 2012 from wealth-management firm Cashel House. Previously, he was head of sales trading for derivatives and structured products at RBS between 2003 and 2011, and
