Big catch: after more than 30 years in FX, Paul James is expected to do a lot of fishing

After a long and respected career at HSBC and forerunner Midland Bank, Paul James decided to call it a day at the end of the summer and go fishing, sources have told FX Week.

James spent more than 30 years at HSBC, all in the foreign exchange space, with his most recent responsibilities in institutional FX sales.

He began his career in the early 1980s at Midland Bank, which, according to certain sources, was once the world's largest deposit bank and the UK's first bank to set up an FX department
