Jeffrey Heslop, chief operating officer (COO) at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), is leaving the agency in February.

Chief financial officer Kenneth Johnson will become acting COO after Heslop's departure.

Heslop, who joined the SEC in 2010, has led significant innovation in its approach to human capital management, business process, internal controls and technology infrastructure, the commission said in a statement.
