John Geensen has joined Rabobank in London as global head of the new treasury markets group, which includes foreign exchange. Treasury markets, and the capital markets group were both previously part of Global Financial Markets until September this year, when Rabo reorganized the division, says a spokesperson at the bank's headquarters in Utrecht. Geensen was formerly UK treasurer at ABN Amro Bank, until his resignation in July.

Jason Lawrence has joined SG's spot desk in London, trading sterling, confirms an official. Lawrence started at the bank at the beginning of November, and reports to Simon Winn, head of spot FX. Lawrence was formerly head of spot at Bank of Montreal in London, and left when the Canadian bank closed its spot FX operation in the City last September.

Paul Bigler has been named as managing director and treasurer for Deutsche Bank in London. He reports to Detlef Bindert, group treasurer.

National Australia Bank (NAB) in London has hired Michael Moore as an institutional sales dealer, an official confirms. Moore, who joins from JP Morgan in New York, reports to Jill Gore, head of the new desk.

Also at NAB in London, an official confirms that Ray Penny has been hired as a spot FX trader, concentrating on dollar/yen. Penny was formerly at Bank of Montreal (BMo) in London, until the bank withdrew from forex trading in the City in September. In his new role, Penny reports to Dave Chumbley, chief dealer.

James Hennessy, from BMo, today joins Commonwealth Bank of Australia as a sales dealer.

Calvin Cheong, FX trader and option strategist at Deerhurst Management, a hedge fund run by Andy Krieger based in Fort Lee, New Jersey, has left to join Matchbook FX, the internet based electronic FX trade-matching network in New York. Chris Steffansson, of Swedbank, and Karl Dundon, senior forward trader at Commonwealth Bank of Australia in New York, have also joined the Matchbook FX team.

Dow Jones Newswires has announced that Eduardo Kaplan has been appointed managing editor--money, at the group's offices in Haborside, New Jersey. He will oversee daily editorial coverage of all major fixed-income and foreign exchange news. Prior to this position, Kaplan was a deputy managing editor focusing on the treasury and foreign exchange markets.

Adam Gazzoli has transferred to National Australia Bank's London spot desk, from the Tokyo office. In London, he trades Kiwi and Canadian spot, reporting to Shane Galligan, head of FX in Europe. In Tokyo, Gazzoli's last position was head of foreign exchange.
