Nomura Bank has hired Michael Cornford as head of FX in London, a newly created position, confirms Egbert Suer, general managing director of treasury in London. Cornford, who joins next month, will focus on proprietary and forward trading, as well as the sales and execution divisions, reporting to Suer. Suer says the bank is expanding in these areas following Japan's plans to end controls on foreign exchange. "This step will allow us to expand our customer base in Japan," he adds.
