Reuters’ Renfrew To Retire, Job To Fill Post Ure And Villeneuve Face Uncertain Future

Glen Renfrew is to retire on March 1, 1991, ending a ten-year reign as Reuters Holdings PLC’s managing director and chief executive. His successor will be Peter Job, currently managing director of Reuters Asia. Sources inside Reuters say that news of Job’s appointment came as quite a surprise, and that it puts the future of the other top contenders for the post--David Ure, managing director of Reuters Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Andre Villeneuve, president of Reuters America--in doubt.
