HKEx appoints Laura Cha as chairman of board

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing has elected veteran regulator Cha May-Lung Laura as its new chairman, in a widely expected move.

According to the HKEx statement, Cha’s term as the chairman will be “coterminous with her directorship”, which is about two years.

Cha’s appointment is subject to the written approval of the chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. A further announcement will be issued upon obtaining such an approval, the HKEx says.
