Johnson appeal supported by two amicus briefs

Criminalising legitimate pre-hedging when the dealer acts as principal will lead to rising costs and decreased liquidity

A finance professor in Chicago has joined the ACI Financial Markets Association in filing an amicus brief document to a New York appeals court, urging the judge to reverse the conviction of former HSBC banker Mark Johnson for wire-fraud charges.

Amicus briefs are legal documents filed by non-litigant parties who have a strong interest in the subject matter of cases going through appeal, to advise the courts on additional information that may be relevant to the case.
