A New York judge denied the defence’s bid for a mistrial in the foreign exchange Cartel case on October 23, saying the circumstances presented do not meet the necessary legal standards for such action.

“That high bar is not remotely met,” District Court judge Richard Berman told the defence.

Berman’s decision came shortly after the defence attorneys rested their case. He explained that no urgent circumstance was present or any prejudice that would make it necessary to grant a new trial.
