Shell Sends Envoy To Japanese Associate That Lost ¥125 Billion Through FX Trades

Royal Dutch/Shell Group is sending a trouble-shooter from its headquarters in London to Tokyo to take financial control of a Japanese refining associate that last week disclosed a loss of ¥125 billion for 1992 on speculative forward foreign exchange contracts.

Shell is drafting in Neil Gaskell, manager of Shell pensions and investments in London, to put Showa Shell's finances in order. The appointment has raised eyebrows in Tokyo, according to informed sources there, but is described by oil
