"We have been asked to undertake an industry-wide review by the CLS board," said Jonathan Butterfield, New York-based executive vice-president of marketing and communication at CLS.
Butterfield said the growth of high-frequency trading has meant a small group of CLS member banks are facing capacity constraints. Algorithmic trading has been stressing out systems that had not been designed to deal with seven-nanosecond computer-based trading models, he said.
