IPC Information Systems, the communications systems provider, is buying MXNet, the market data distribution network company, from the National Discount Brokers Group. The New Jersey-based firm, which was founded in 1996 by former Reuters and Bridge staff, operates a secure distribution network with a choice of 25 market data products from various financial information vendors. The deal is worth $6.7 million and the new subsidiary will be renamed IXNet.

IPC says that the purchase will enable
