Cambodia extends blockchain payment system pilot

Central bank lengthens trial to end of year and explores including cross-border transactions

Cambodia’s central bank is extending the three-month pilot run of its blockchain-powered payment system as it reviews the initial results and studies the impact further.

The National Bank of Cambodia is prolonging the test period of the Bakong Payment System until the end of this year, a spokesperson tells FX Week sister site Central Banking. It is also working on expanding the peer-to-peer payment system to include cross-border transactions.
