Icap completes post-trade blockchain test

The interdealer broker is the latest to implement the technology in the financial industry

Icap's post-trade risk and information (PTRI) division has successfully completed an internal proof-of-technology test of distributed ledgers using blockchain technology.

The broker is the latest institutional player to have completed blockchain testing, following JP Morgan and participating banks in the R3 project. The process, conducted in February, involved the transfer of smart contracts among nine representative participant nodes on a distributed-ledger network.
