US to maintain strong dollar policy

NEW YORK – The US Treasury is unlikely to abandon its strong dollar policy, despite growing international concerns that US dollar strength is a hindrance to global economic recovery.

Last Monday, Bank of England governor Edward George warned that US dollar strength is having a “perverse” effect on US and European economies, with euro/dollar exchange rates hurting US exports and pushing eurozone inflation rates higher.
