May 2006 - Reuters and CME to set up FXMarketSpace

REVIEW OF THE YEAR

It emerged that the platform FXMarketSpace, would be launched by a new joint venture (JV) company in which the two will hold an equal stake, with each entity putting in $20-$25 million. The JV will use the data dissemination, distribution, trade matching and central counterparty clearing capabilities of Reuters and the CME.

FXMarketSpace will initially enable anonymous trading in spot FX, but the product range will be extended to include forwards, swaps and over-the-counter options later.
