1994 Foreign Exchange Income Falls Off At Banco Santander, Banco Bilbão Vizcaya

Foreign exchange income at major Spanish banks dropped off in 1994. Banco Santander, whose annual report from last month includes income from the operations of Banco Español de Credito (Banesto), which it acquired last year, showed a smaller decrease than rival Banco Bilbão Vizcaya (BBV).

Santander reported foreign exchange and derivatives income of Pta7.072 million, down 12.86 per cent from the Pta8.116 million posted in 1993, a k year for the bank in this area. Without the contribution of FX
