Alaska Permanent Fund Set To Test Four FX Advisory Services

In an unusual move that other pension funds may find useful, the $11 billion Alaska Permanent Fund (APF) has selected four currency overlay managers, FX Concepts, Inc. J.P. Morgan Investment Management, Matuschka & Co. and County NatWest Investment Management, to compete against a passive hedging strategy.

"What we've done is set up a two to three year test system and our basic goal is to see whether or not active [currency] management, competently applied, makes money even over the short term,"
