MAS bans 'capital protected' tag for structured products

SINGAPORE - The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has produced a raft of prescriptive new regulations for structured product distributors in the region, including a ban on using the words 'capital protected' in product literature.

It was originally suggested an alternative label could be used, but definitions mooted by banks "tend to be lengthy and not easily understandable", according to the MAS.

"The ban is less about the words 'capital protection' and more about how 'capital guarantee'
