Ruling overturned: Richardson found the original judge adopted “a legally incorrect” approach

JP Morgan has won a ruling overturning a 2016 decision by an employment tribunal that found Patrice Ktorza, a former executive director in foreign exchange sales, to have been unfairly dismissed.

On May 11, judge David Richardson ruled in favour of the bank’s claim that the original judge adopted “a legally incorrect” approach and failed to look at JP Morgan’s reasons for dismissing Ktorza.

Ktorza was suspended in November 2014 and left the bank in August 2015. In May 2016, he decided to sue
